We are instructed to rightly divide the word of God “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
The entire Bible can be divided between good and evil, God and Satan, truth and lies and also between light and darkness. Today, as it has always been the population of the earth can be divided into two groups— those in the light and those in darkness.
Literally speaking darkness means the absence of light. Spiritually speaking darkness means the absence of truth. Truth is light; therefore, darkness is the absence of truth. Truth comes from God and His truth is light. Lies come from Satan and create a darkness. The day will come when spiritual darkness will cover the earth as stated in Isaiah 60:2, “For, Behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people…”
What makes this darkness? The story of Noah it is an example of how to divide light from darkness. “Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God” (Genesis 6:9). Noah and 7 others were in the Ark and they walked in the light-truth. When speaking of the rest of the population: all those who were in the water, God tells us this, “And * God saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth…” (Genesis 6:5). The cross reference concerning what God saw as wickedness sends one to * Romans 1:28-31 to explain wickedness. These verses describe all those who do what is sexually unnatural – oral and anal sex. If you were to place Adam and Eve in the story of Noah and the Ark, they would not be in the Ark with Noah for they choose evil, departed from God to served Satan. To serve Satan one must practice unnatural sex. Unnatural sex began with Adam and Eve. The story of Noah shows the difference between light and darkness. When darkness covers the earth almost everyone but a few will believe in unnatural sex for unnatural sex is spiritual darkness.
Darkness is once again explained this way, “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, *how great is that darkness” (Matthew 6:23). The cross reference explaining darkness takes one to Romans 1:21, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Please notice that they knew God before they entered the darkness. One must leave being upright to walk in darkness as stated in Proverb 2:13, “Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness.” “How great is that darkness” is referring to the darkness of the sexually perverse, who believe in the god of “this world” Satan. Adam and Eve were the first to leave uprightness to walk with Satan in darkness. God made vaginal intercourse and Satan made oral and anal sex. Illicit sexual desires among heterosexuals and same sex partners is wickedness. Wickedness produces the spiritual darkness of today.
When you look at the United States of America do you see the darkness? In the 1950s the darkness was not so obvious. But darkness has been on the increase since the 1960s and today the darkness can be seen everywhere, not only in America but throughout the world. Many movies, television, and magazines are spreading this wickedness. Recently our school system from grade school through our universities have begun teaching darkness. The AARP Bulletin for the elderly offer several videos teaching unnatural sex: the way of darkness. Instead of spreading this wickedness we should be removing it from society.
The Christianity of today is in darkness with so many churches marrying and ordaining the homosexual, and none mention that unnatural sex within a heterosexual marriage is wickedness. So, God tells us this about today’s Christianity in 1 John 1:6, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:” If a person walks in darkness (if they practice unnatural sex) and then proclaim to be a Christian they lie. Those in darkness do not have fellowship with God. We are not hearing truth from the Christianity of today. They are lying. They are the blind leaders of the blind. Blind people are in darkness.
The Good News. Yes, darkness will cover the earth and then God will show us his goodness. Isaiah 60:2, “For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” The last generation, the generation in darkness will see light. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
A generation is all the people on earth at a given period of time. There will be a generation of people who will be called out of the darkness. That generation will see peace on earth. “For God hath concluded (ended) them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all” (Romans 11:32). Mercy comes at the end – not before. We can expect the first coming of Jesus after darkness covers the earth. “But now once in the end of the world hath he [Jesus] appeared to put away sin…” (Hebrews 9:26).
Yes, in the last days we will have a Christianity that understands what is light and what is darkness and will remove the darkness. “And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.” (Hebrews 8:11).
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness” (John 12:46).
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Jesus comes to save.
“And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world” (John 12:47).
